The BlackBug is a hybrid lure designed for pike fishing, but extremely effective also with all the other large freshwater predators. A lure that is well suited to countless fishing situations: perfect for hunting pike over big weed beds or on the deeper drop off, but also for those fish that lives pelagic around large school of baitfish. The quick interchangeable system of the tails and related accessories, makes the BlackBug a chameleon lure, that quickly changes and adapt to any fishing situation.

The Hybrid lures with a deer hair head and a rubber tail, have been part of the pike fishing scenario for several years, and take up more and more space in any pike fisherman's tackle box. The first projects were born in Italy, where several fishermen have created and improved their own hybrid lures since the 90s. Over the years we have always used these particular lures, we have handmade our own and we have helped several lure builders to improve and refine their projects. Since the beginning of BlackBay Lodge in 2012, we have always provided and recommended this kind of lures to our customers, which have allowed to catch thousands of pike, including several trophy specimens. The idea of creating the BlackBug, our own hybrid lure, designed, developed and BlackBay's branded, is born to brings together all the functional characteristics that we have always considered essential in this type of lure.

The BlackBug is built on a stainless steel rig, and is made up of two parts: a natural fur head and an interchangeable rubber tail. The bait is completely rigged with BKK components.

The head is entirely made with Bucktail, a natural material with his unique characteristics, impossible to be imitated by any other synthetic material. The softness and length of the fibers, combined with the particular mounting process, gives the lure that typical floating and natural look that makes it irresistible to any water predators. Each head is entirely handmade because this process is impossible to be mechanized in any way, and makes every single Blackbug a unique piece.

The back part of the BlackBug is made by a BlackTail, an easily interchangeable rubber tail, screwed tightly onto the stainless steel rig of the head. This feature allows to adapt our BlackBug to any fishing situation, quickly varying its shape, size, color and action. Seven different BlackTail models are available for the Blackbug, each ones in a large number of colors.
The Blackbug is fully rigged with BKK components.
Two Spear-21 treble hooks 2/0, sharp, strong and reliable.
Oval Split Ring 55 and Split Ring 51 to ensure strength and a perfect alignment of the rig.
A "Crane Swivel 62 - stainless Steel" that allows to buffer all the torsion during the fight.
The main feature of the rig is the shaped stainless steel wire, designed by Blackbay for BKK, the main component of the new BB-Trigger-21. The double spike, coated with plastic material, always guarantees a perfect fit and correct positioning of the rig on the BlackTail. Thanks to this particular rig, the hooking capability of the lures is highly increased, as it totally eliminates the possibility of a bad positioning of the whole rig during the cast: the treble hooks will always be firmly in the correct position and well exposed for a perfect strike. The same component has been designed to hold a quick release variable weight system, which allows to quickly change the weight and set-up of our BlackBug .
